Nathan Lunstrum

I recently spotted one of Nathan Lundstrum's photographs on Flak Photo and was intrigued. And then discovered his book, Ordinary Hours, was selected with an Honorable Mention in the Photography.Book.Now. competition. Nathan was born in Seattle, grew up in the Cascade foothills of Washington State and received a MFA from Washington State University. He now lives in Tarrytown, NY and teaches digital photography at SUNY Purchase College.

My instinct is that Nathan is an observer, and not a big talker. There are no statements on his site, only a short bio, and his blog reflects the work of someone who is always keenly aware of details and remnants of life. There is a certain quiet and purity to his work--the kind of quiet that comes from someone who takes long walks, sits and observes without the drone of technical distractions, and sees the world with grace and stillness.
