Kate Hutchinson
I’ve been looking at a lot of imagery about photographing those under the same roof, and found Kate Hutchinson’s portrait work of her husband to be quite remarkable. It’s not often that one person is scrutinized and captured in such a variety of ways. Her series, Why am I marrying him?, began during the engagement period of her relationship. After being in a together for six years, Kate and Chris decided to get married, and began to deal with all the emotions that such a commitment brings–self doubt, family politics, and wedding stress. The project was a creative collaboration that has continued long after the wedding vows.
Kate also has another engaging series using her husband, Chris. Model Husband, explores the nude in context of the spousal relationship, drawing inspiration from poses used by a previous generation of men photographing and painting their wives.
Liz Kuball has a great interview with her from 2008 on her blog.
